Herts for Learning Online
:: Developing feedback and marking ::
Outline
Effective feedback and the formative process it involves has been shown time and again to significantly affect pupil progress. Furthermore, a key factor when Ofsted make judgements about schools is whether the pupils are making progress, and they judge this, not only by observing lessons and analysing data, but through looking at exercise books and examples of pupils' work. This course will explore practical ways that effective feedback can be integrated into lessons and through marking, whilst relieving teacher workload. The ideas and strategies explored will be relevant to all teachers from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3.
Outcomes:
By attending the course, participants will:
  • gain strategies to give verbal and written feedback that scaffolds learning and development
  • learn how progress can be visible in books and what Ofsted look for
  • explore techniques to develop pupil centred learning through self/peer assessment and collaborative improvement which lead to progress within the lesson
Suitable for:
  • Classroom Teachers
