Herts for Learning Online
:: Workshop to Raise Awareness of PREVENT (WRAP): 4:00-5:30pm ::
The Workshop to Raise Awareness of Prevent (WRAP) is the Home Office's official training package on anti-radicalisation. The DfE expect all schools to have accessed WRAP training. The minimum legal requirement is that all schools should have at least one member of staff, usually a DSP, who has attended the official WRAP training. (DfE 'Prevent' Guidance, 2015 - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/protecting-children-from-radicalisation-the-prevent-duty). However, Ofsted inspectors increasingly expect that schools will have exceeded the minimum requirement. HCC and Herts for Learning recommend that schools ensure that at all times there will be a member of staff on school premises who has attended WRAP. Sessions are a maximum of 1.5 hours. They are appropriate for all staff involved in educational contexts including secondary schools, primary schools, early years settings and childcare providers. The session will deliver a full WRAP training package, followed by an additional briefing on the DfE guidelines and Ofsted expectations.
By attending the course, participants will:
  • receive the required Home Office WRAP training package, to raise awareness of PREVENT and to clarify the school's responsibilities for anti-radicalisation
  • receive certification of their attendance to assist discussions with Ofsted
Please note: no refreshments will be available, only water.
