Outline
Narrowing the gap for disadvantaged children and young people is a priority focus for all Ofsted inspections across Hertfordshire. This course reviews the impact that can be made through strategies that concern pupil wellbeing and parent partnership. We will consider work on aspirations, motivation, resilience, character education, mindfulness, pupil and parent engagement and use of learning mentors.
Prerequisites
Delegates must have knowledge of strategies across the school for wellbeing and closing the gap for disadvantaged groups and knowledge of their impact.
Outcomes:
By attending the course participants will:
  • understand the potential impact of a wide range of wellbeing strategies on closing the gap for disadvantaged children and young people
  • consider case studies from research and local schools
  • recognise factors that can make the difference in the degree of impact when rolling out these strategies
  • develop next steps for taking learning back to school
