:: Strategic leadership and teaching to embed a school-wide growth mindset culture ::
Growth mindsets have the power to transform learning in schools, but how can a growth mindset strategy be implemented at whole-school level? This new course is for school leaders who want to introduce or enhance the growth mindset culture throughout their school. Based on the work of Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck (author of Mindset: How You Can Fulfil Your Potential) and drawing on the real experiences (successes and pitfalls) of schools implementing growth mindset strategies, participants will explore how to make the growth mindset tangible, authentic and lasting through the structures, environment, actions and words of the school. The course will be jointly led by an assessment adviser and two district school effective advisers and former headteachers. Delegates are required to attend both dates.
Please note that Day 1 of this two day training was originally booked for Thursday 17th January but has now moved to Wednesday 16th January.
By attending the course, participants will:
  • gain a deeper understanding of the growth mindset
  • consider how to strategically lead a school focussed on embedding a growth mindset
  • understand the common pitfalls and the misunderstandings occurring when implementing a growth mindset culture, and what to do about them
  • develop strategies for introducing mindsets to staff, pupils, parents and governors
  • be able to plan for the implementation and enhancement of a growth mindset strategy, at all stages of a school’s development
