Herts for Learning Online
:: Single Central Record training ::
Outline
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is one of the most important aspects of the work of schools. Part of this will be ensuring that those recruited to work with children are robustly screened and that a record of the checks is kept. Ofsted will ask to see the Single Central Record (SCR) of staff who work at the school, including volunteers where used. However, ensuring that the SCR is appropriately recorded and audited can sometimes lead to questions on compliance and best practice. This half-day course will give delegates the opportunity to remind themselves of the importance of the statutory requirements and what constitutes a good Single Central Record for the purposes of auditing and Ofsted inspections. This half-day session is for anyone with responsibility for developing or updating the school’s SCR. This session will be a mix of presentation and practical activity.
Outcomes:
By attending the course participants will:
  • review the statutory requirements and best practice in developing and updating the SCR
  • be reminded about who and what to include and the format of the SCR
  • explore mandatory and non-mandatory options around the content of the SCR
