Herts for Learning Online
:: Year 5 mathematics - making the last term count ::
Outline
With two terms completed, teachers will now have a really good understanding of what their pupils know and can do. The remaining term is crucial to ensure they are ready to meet the demands of Year 6. This course will support participants in how best to prioritise and prepare their learners for their final year of the Key Stage. Packed full of ideas and activities, as well as an opportunity to map out a final plan of attack, this course will support teaching sequences for the final term of Year 5.
Prerequisites
Delegates must be currently teaching year 5, with a good knowledge of projections for pupils who are on track to meet ARE, and those who are below or beyond. This course filters down many of the ideas from the year 6 ARE training held in the autumn and spring term, therefore any delegates who attended that may not find the content appropriate.
Outcomes:
By attending the training participants will:
  • prioritise learning for the final term
  • map out key learning sequences
  • return armed with ideas and activities to use back in classroom
  • increase subject knowledge in crucial aspects of learning
