Outline
The DfE, the new Ofsted framework and the mandatory curriculum for relationship education and health education all place a spotlight on mental health and wellbeing. This course will explore the principles and approaches that can deliver effective teaching to support mental health and emotional wellbeing across the primary school.
Prerequisites
Please can colleagues attending the course bring for their reference information on mental health elements of their existing resources or teaching programme.
Outcomes:
The aims of the course are to:
  • identify core elements of teaching about mental health and emotional wellbeing
  • explore effective classroom approaches and resources
  • address concerns and increase staff confidence
  • consider how to support parents to understand and support the curriculum and whole-school approach
