:: Using DO SRE lessons effectively to deliver high-quality relationships and sex education at Key Stage 4 ::
Outline
This course aims to demonstrate the SRE DO lesson plans and resources that are available to help teachers to deliver effective sex and relationship education to Year 10 and 11 students. It will aim to improve the self-confidence of staff delivering this sensitive topic to KS4 in preparation for the statutory requirements.
Outcomes:
The aims of the course are to:
  • find ways to use the resource to create a safe learning environment to discuss sensitive and controversial issues.
  • explore the rationale for ensuring high quality, confident delivery of sex education
  • ensure coverage of the relationships and sex education statutory guidelines
  • explore how to effectively safeguard students through the curriculum
  • explore the resources and approaches on the DO SRE website
