Outline
This course will explore the importance of adopting quality approaches to covering some of the more sensitive aspects of health, relationship and sex education in the primary school. It is designed to develop the confidence of staff delivering these topics.
Prerequisites
Please can colleagues attending the course bring any scheme of work that they follow or any resources and a copy of their relationships and sex education school’s policy.
Outcomes:
The aims of the course are to:
  • create a safe learning environment to discuss sensitive and controversial issues
  • explore the rationale for ensuring high quality, confident delivery of puberty education
  • ensure quality coverage of the relationships education statutory guidelines
  • explore how to effectively safeguard children through the curriculum
  • explore age-appropriate resources and approaches to cover conception, puberty changes, wet dreams and menstruation (periods)
