:: Practical steps to raising boys' writing ::
Outline
Delegates will have the opportunity to explore research-led strategies and approaches to engage boys with writing and raise standards. We will look at the development of curriculum and classroom cultures that promote great literature and a love for language using print and visual texts, and practical activities to motivate and enthuse learners. Throughout, teaching approaches and learning opportunities will be firmly grounded in inclusive, evidence-informed practice, so that all learners benefit.
Outcomes:
By attending the course, participants will:
  • deepen their knowledge and understanding of current best practice in supporting boys to achieve well in writing
  • develop their awareness of the obstacles and opportunities in developing young writers
  • explore current practice and provision in schools where boys perform well and enjoy writing
  • be equipped with strategies and resources to support the development of a culture and curriculum that support writing development regardless of gender identity
