:: Early Years Assessment Project - improve assessment systems and outcomes for children ::
Outline
This year-long project starting in October will: - support Early Years (EY) practitioners in developing efficient and accurate assessment processes - help EY practitioners support as many children as possible in achieving the required level of development at the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) - provide bespoke training sessions and consultancy to help improve outcomes in the EYFS - support EY practitioners in closing gaps in attainment between different groups of children, particularly for children in receipt of the pupil premium grant
Prerequisites
For the first session, delegates need to bring a selection of children's learning journals across the range of ability.
Outcomes:
By attending the training, participants will:
  • receive guidance to develop consistent assessment practices
  • be supported to make any pertinent changes to the provision using evidence from both child-initiated and adult-led sessions to support attainment
  • develop skills to accurately unpick individual children's data to match provision to individual needs
  • gain confidence in the effective analysis of historic data to provide provision that meets the needs of each child, to close the gap for as many children as possible and as early as possible
