Outline
Working scientifically is at the heart of primary science and supports pupils in developing a natural curiosity about the world around them. Through child-led enquiry pupils develop confidence in asking and answering questions. This course will share a range of practical activities covering the full range of topics and working scientifically skills to engage and motivate teachers and pupils. Delegates will also have the opportunity to reflect on how to use formative assessment to assess skills within lessons.
Outcomes:
By attending the session, participants will:
  • consider different types of scientific enquiry and their associated skills
  • explore ideas for promoting child-led enquiry
  • discuss progress in working scientifically through Key Stages 1 and 2
  • develop confidence in assessing working scientifically skills in a manageable way
