Introduction to GDPR in terms of the role of the DPO. The aims of the session are to provide delegates with the knowledge of what the role of DPO entails. Duties of the DPO, including: 1. obligations for GDPR compliance 2. monitoring compliance with GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 3. understanding and managing internal data protection activities 4. data protection impact assessments 5. internal data audits 6. reporting of data breaches 7. dealing with requests for information Steps to be taken to show compliance including: 1. documenting all activities 2. conducting a regular data audit 3. monitoring of an action plan 4. ensuring staff are aware of responsibilities
