:: Relationships, Sex and Health Education Conference: A Route Map for the New Secondary Statutory Curriculum ::
Statutory provision of relationship, sex and health education is coming fast and is intended to contribute to our safeguarding of pupils. This timely conference will bring together secondary colleagues to explore the new requirements in detail and to help schools plan their route in policy and curriculum development, enabling delivery to begin, as recommended by DfE, from September 2019. A whole-school approach is needed and we will be answering questions, including: What are the policy requirements under the new legislation? How can schools help pupils to understand their bodies, their choices and risk taking, in order to be able to approach their lives with confidence and to make healthier choices? How will we embed relationships and sex education into existing PSHE provision and/or in the wider curriculum? What curriculum models could be used? What resources are available that will help? How do we consult with and support parents in our delivery of relationships and sex education? What are the statutory changes to health education and how will schools prepare for this? How can schools approach this area in an inclusive way fulfilling their equalities duty? How can we build staff confidence to deliver lessons that cover sensitive and sometimes controversial issues?
Please note, places are limited to one per school.
