:: Deputy and assistant headteacher induction: session four - leadership and building effective teams ::
This session aims to increase understanding of how to harness leadership skills to develop leadership capacity, build teams and manage change as part of improving school effectiveness. Areas covered will include: - examining leadership styles - managing change - the characteristics of effective team based working - developing an effective team - exploring the link between emotional intelligence and leadership Please note that this session is part of a rolling programme which does not have to be completed in order. However in the past delegates have found it beneficial to attend all sessions in order to make learning connections between topics and to build professional relationships with assistant and deputy headteacher colleagues.
By the end of the course participants will have:
  • an increased understanding of leadership styles and drawing on them to effect and manage change and school improvement
  • developed a greater knowledge of managing change and using emotional intelligence as a school leadership tool
  • increased understanding of developing effective teams
