:: Securing greater depth in reading and writing at Key Stage 1 ::
Outline
This course will support schools to tailor their curriculum to meet the needs of, and challenge, their more able writers. It will cover the identification of pupils who, despite attaining well, are at risk of ‘falling behind’ (Ofsted 2015). Delegates will go on to explore a range of highly engaging texts and approaches that will inspire and develop technical skills, individual voice and style. In Key Stage 1 rich source materials will be used to cultivate independent flexible approaches to writing allowing pupils to adapt texts. Through engagement with this course, delegates will consider how the exemplified approaches may be used to develop a writers' culture in class that marries high expectations with high-quality outcomes for all.
