:: Making accurate EYFSP assessments for Reception pupils: expected or exceeding? ::
This course offers an opportunity to review the key principles of EYFS assessment. It is useful to look ahead and track children's progress and attainment towards the EYFSP to enable planning for the best possible provision to improve outcomes for each unique child. Strategies and ways to develop effective practice will be shared during the training. Each Early Learning Goal (ELG) and exceeding statement will be unpicked and discussed to enable practitioners to be confident in making accurate assessments for the most-able children or those on the cusp of expected or exceeding levels.
Delegates should bring evidence for children showing development that is demonstrating that they are likely to attain, or are on the cusp of attaining, exceeding levels for judgement against the EYFSP. Please bring any area of learning for as many children as you wish.

  • review key principles of 'best practice' for EY assessment within schools to enable accurate data set at the end of EYFS
  • develop confidence to make judgements against the EYFSP for the most-able children or those on the cusp of an ELG
  • develop effective skills to use tracking tools to monitor children working towards the ELGs and Good Level of Development (GLD) and have the skills to utilise this information to improve outcomes for all children at the end of Reception
