:: Smooth transitions from Early Years to Year 1 ::
Outline
This course will help Reception and Year 1 practitioners to create the right conditions to ensure a smooth transition between the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1. Participants will gain a deeper understanding in interpreting the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile and how this can be used on transition, to plan learning in Year 1.
Prerequisites
The course will run from 9:30am-3:00pm. Between 3:00pm and 4:00pm there will be time for action planning or Q&A with the trainer on issues related to your school.
Outcomes:
By attending the course, participants will:
  • gain an understanding of the best practice to support good transitions
  • understand how the principles of quality provision in the Foundation Stage can be built on in Year 1
  • gain an awareness of how to use the EYFS Profile data to look for patterns and strengths, and plan learning in Year 1
  • explore effective strategies with reporting children's attainment to parents at the end of EYFS
