:: Data protection and cyber security - what all staff need to know ::
With the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into effect in May 2018, it has never been more important to ensure that all staff in schools / settings have a basic understanding of how to protect the personal data they use. This includes the need to understand and minimise the risks from cyber threats such as phishing and malware. In this course we will consider what all staff need to know about data protection and cyber security, without going into the higher-level detail on GDPR needed by a data protection officer. Having attended this course, the training participants will be able to lead their own staff meeting in their school / setting, on data protection and cyber security, and materials will be provided to support the delivery of this.
Delegates should bring a memory stick to take away the electronic materials that will be provided.
The aims of the course are to:
  • discuss the important data protection awareness and steps that all staff need to know and follow
  • prepare the participant to deliver their own training session in their school/setting
  • provide electronic materials to support the running of their own training session in their school/setting
