:: Learning to lead - successful leadership of primary computing ::
This two-day course is aimed at new or aspiring computing subject leaders in the primary phase. Through a mix of presentation, discussion and practical activities, the course will support participants in beginning to lead computing in their schools with confidence and understanding. The emphasis is on the strategic development of computing, and the course covers areas such as school vision, action planning, monitoring, resources and online safety. During the course, delegates will be provided with a range of tools and resources to support them in many aspects of their role, and will have hands-on experience of some of the different computing resources available today.
Delegates should bring a memory stick or portable hard drive so that they can save and take away the electronic resources provided.
By attending the course, participants will:
  • gain a detailed knowledge and understanding of the key areas that are essential for the successful leadership of computing in schools
  • consider a whole-school vision for computing, and use this to support their own development or action plan
  • consider the planning and assessment of computing in schools and the importance of embedding computing across the curriculum
  • review such areas as computing resources management, subject leader monitoring, eSafety and staff development
  • try out some of the software and hardware computing resources available today
