:: Implementing the new Hertfordshire Agreed Syllabus of Religious Education - Key Stage 2 ::
Outline
This course will provide practical support and guidance to implement the requirements for the Hertfordshire Agreed Syllabus of Religious Education 2017-2022. Through a mix of tutor led input and discussions delegates will examine the new Key Stage 2 programme of study with its increased clarity and rigour and explore inspiring support materials for lower and upper Key Stage 2. Participants will consider examples of thoughtful RE, challenging all pupils and promoting deeper thinking for 7-11 year olds. During the session, delegates will engage with a range of approaches that can be embedded in future planning for engaging lessons that build pupils' religious literacy, understanding and interest in religious education.
Outcomes:
By attending the course participants will:
  • examine changes for Key Stage 2 in the new Hertfordshire Agreed Syllabus of Religious Education 2017-2022
  • gain knowledge and understanding of the requirements for teaching the new Key Stage 2 programme of study
  • identify appropriate pedagogical approaches to develop pupils’ religious literacy and understanding in RE
  • explore ways in which the new Hertfordshire learning outcomes can be used to raise pupil attainment
  • share strategies of good teaching which will inspire teachers and pupils
