Outline
This course offers an introduction to learning mentoring and would benefit anyone new to the role or considering becoming a learning mentor. A mentor plays a key role in helping a child to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally. Schools that have successfully implemented the skills of learning mentors have seen the positive impact on pupil self-esteem, behaviour and attendance which in turn can help raise attainment & close the gap for PPG and disadvantaged pupils.
Outcomes:
By attending the course participants will:
  • gain an understanding of what a learning mentor is & the key responsibilities of the role
  • learn about the skills and personal qualities needed to be an effective learning mentor
  • be aware of the learning mentor process
  • understand impact learning mentoring can have on pupils and how progress can be monitored and impact measured
