:: Mental mathematics: the secret to success of a whole-school approach ::
Outline
Mental fluency is paramount to learning successfully in mathematics. The implications of the new testing framework in mathematics clearly indicate that the requirement for pupils to be mentally fluent is at a higher level than previous years. To achieve this, it is crucial that schools develop a consistent whole-school approach. This course will enable delegates to develop a coherent and progressive program year on year. As such, it is aimed at leaders wishing to make a real impact in this important area for all groups of pupils. Throughout the day, delegates will uncover the foundations for mental fluency needed in each phase, consider the non-negotiables for year groups as well as developing whole-school activities that will ensure pupils have facts at their fingertips and know how to use them.
