:: PuRE inspiration - developing Key Stage 1 RE and SMSC ::
Outline
A practical and engaging course designed to explore inspiring RE at Key Stage 1. Breathe RE training delivers a wide range of creative ideas and strategies for infant pupils. This visual and active course provides an opportunity to develop RE skills including enquiry, stilling, imaginative story telling and developing Christian concepts. There will be focus on themes such as celebrations, belonging, sacred spaces, signs and symbols and the natural world. There will be a mix of tutor-led input and discussions, but the main focus of the day will be trying out new ideas and activities and considering how to use them to support and encourage pupils’ curiosity, enhance their spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development and raise attainment. Teachers will experience and take away new skills and resources to implement and to inspire the Key Stage 1 classroom.
Outcomes:
By attending the course participants will:
  • be provided with practical and inspiring strategies for making RE more creative and enhancing pupils spiritual, social, moral and cultural development
  • extend knowledge and understanding of SMSC in the light of the content and ideas outlined in the Hertfordshire Scheme of Work for RE at KS1
