:: Beyond the expected – a day’s workshop for Year 6 pupils aiming for higher standard ::
In response to demand, we are pleased to offer this event for year 6 students to support them in working towards the ‘higher standard’ in mathematics in the Key Stage 2 tests this summer. The day will support pupils in developing and securing key mathematical approaches, whilst building their stamina to think under pressure. A range of topics requiring higher order skills in mathematics, reasoning and problem-solving will be covered, including: algebra; proportion; volume and fractions. Please note, a teacher or staff member will need to be present for the duration of the session and be responsible for the children from their school.
Pupils will need to bring a packed lunch.
The aims of the course are to:
help develop pupils’ deeper thinking skills, when faced with more complex mathematical problems
build pupils’ confidence with higher standard mathematics
Please note, a teacher or staff member will need to be present for the duration of the session and be responsible for the children from their school. Pupils will need to bring a packed lunch.
Being delivered by Karen Gordon and William Thallon
