:: Maximising progress in GCSE foundation tier mathematics ::
Outline
This two-day course is intended for teachers of mathematics, specialist and non-specialist, who are currently (or will shortly be) teaching GCSE foundation tier. It will focus on introducing delegates to a range of ideas and strategies which have the potential to improve students’ confidence in mathematics, and secure good progress as a result.
Outcomes:
By attending the course participants will:
  • become more confident in delivering GCSE mathematics at foundation tier through learning effective ways of explaining and sequencing mathematical ideas to students, particularly those which are new to foundation tier
  • become more confident in delivering GCSE mathematics at foundation tier through being introduced to a variety of teaching and learning activities
  • become more confident in delivering GCSE mathematics at foundation tier through exploring strategies to improve students’ problem-solving abilities, which are central to success in the new specifications
