:: Year 2 phonics and spelling: planning and assessment ::
Outline
Teaching or supporting pupils with Year 2 age related phonics and spelling? National Curriculum 2014 introduces Year 2 pupils to some important changes in the way they think about phonics for spelling. Led by experts, the day unpicks key subject knowledge through using practical ideas and hands-on activities. Delegates will leave feeling confident to deliver effective teaching and support for Year 2 phonics and spelling. It will prepare delegates for the spelling element of both the GAPs test and writing teacher assessment. The activities are also powerful for those supporting struggling older spellers who need to become more accurate in their spelling. Those who have attended Phase 5-6 training before the 2014 curriculum was implemented would also benefit from this course, as some aspects are new into Year 2 and some are no longer necessary.
