Outline
Are you new to phonics or have you been delivering phonics for a while but would like some reassurance that you are on the right track? Have you been asked to support phonics within the Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 as part of small group work or within whole class sessions and want to ensure that you are getting it right? Then this is the course for you! During the session delegates will have the opportunity to get to grips with synthetic phonics and will spend the day securing an understanding of progression through the phonic phases of 'Letters and Sounds'. A range of practical activities will be explored that can be used with pupils across the primary phase.
Outcomes:
By attending the course participants will:
  • improve your synthetic phonics subject knowledge
  • gain a clear understanding of progression in phonics
  • develop a good grasp of practical ideas that will support all pupils in using phonics to secure word reading and later spelling skills
