Herts for Learning Online
:: Journey to the ITAFs: teaching and assessment strategies to secure age-related expectations in reading, writing and maths - for Year 2 teachers and Key Stage 1 leaders ::
Outline
This new course, led by the lead moderator for Key Stage 1 teacher assessment in Hertfordshire, aims to draw upon the lessons learnt from the first year of the Interim Teacher Assessment Frameworks (ITAFs), in order to help Year 2 teachers and Key Stage 1 leaders work together to ensure pupil progression towards the ‘Expected’ standards or above by the end of Year 2. The course will unpick each ‘can do’ statement in the Key Stage 1 ITAFs for reading, writing and maths, and provide teachers with practical time-saving teaching and assessment strategies to both build and evidence attainment, including: - strategies to help higher attainers meet and demonstrate working at greater depth within the expected standard - strategies to help pupils who ‘fall behind’ - strategies to enhance the feedback processes to maximise progress
