:: Level 2 Safeguarding and Child Protection for Children's Centre Staff ::
Outcomes:
  • To gain knowledge of what to do when participants suspect that a child is suffering abuse and refresh practitioner knowledge of the key categories of harm and how these might be identified
  • To be aware of the locally agreed procedures and the expectations of the participant's role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and the importance of working together to achieve this
  • To have an understanding of key relevant legislation and statutory guidance in this area
  • To consider the needs of the child across the continuum of care, from early help to child protection utilising the local thresholds document
  • To look at what happens after the concern has been raised and acknowledged. Beyond the referral how are concerns being addressed (including the child protection conference process)?
  • To gain confidence in dealing with issues of disclosure, record keeping, gaining consent and sharing information
Length of Course 1 Day
This course is recommended for those staff who work on a one-to-one basis with families and are involved with making referrals, attending child protection conferences working with other professionals and writing reports to inform decisions on family support. Delegates should also have already completed the Basic Level 1 Safeguarding Children training. Each children's centre group is restricted to a MAXIMUM of 2 delegates. The cost of attending this training course is £40 Ex VAT (i.e. 4 Training Credits).
