Understanding Christianity is an exciting and powerful new RE resource for EYFS, KS1, KS2 and KS3 for all church and community schools. This course will provide practical training to enhance teaching, learning and assessment of Christianity in Religious Education. The resource provided to schools is linked to the new statutory requirements for RE in Hertfordshire. Delegates from each attending school will take away a Teacher's Handbook, 29 full units of work, from Reception through to Year 6 (and beyond), introductory booklets for each phase, over 150 photocopiable pupil resource sheets, a Big Frieze illustration, setting the concepts within a wider biblical context. Delegates will also explore and take away Picturing Christianity - a visual teaching resource pack for learning from global Christianity and receive online access to additional materials and support.
By attending the course, participants will:
  • develop the skills required to ensure that all pupils gain a systematic knowledge and understanding about Christianity, a statutory requirement of the Hertfordshire Agreed Syllabus of Religious Education 2017-2022 and explore links to the new 'Religion for Today and Tomorrow' publication
  • be able to use this excellent and innovative resource package for better learning about Christianity EYFS - UKS2
  • consider the place of Christian concepts, creativity and textual learning in RE through exploring inspiring examples of teaching and learning ideas
  • develop their own skills in teaching, learning and assessing RE by using this major new, fully-resourced approach
