:: Making the change - RE and the new agreed syllabus ::
Outline
Religious education leaders and practitioners, who have not received new syllabus training, will be prepared to implement the changes required to whole-school RE, teaching, learning and assessment. This one-day course is aimed at assisting schools in implementing the new Hertfordshire Agreed Syllabus of Religious Education 2017-2022 and the supporting "Religion for Today and Tomorrow" guidance. The course will provide a background to changes in the new curriculum and best practice, classroom-ready examples provided in the agreed syllabus implementation courses for EYFS through to Upper Key Stage 2. Delegates will have the opportunity to explore non-statutory guidance in order to improve their existing schemes of work and current classroom practice.
Outcomes:
By attending the course, participants will:
be prepared to implement the statutory requirements of the new RE agreed syllabus, ensuring that the new programmes of study, teaching, learning and assessment requirements are met across the whole school
gain knowledge and understanding of the changes to the statutory requirements for religious education in Hertfordshire
develop whole-school planning for teaching the new programmes of study aimed to improve the RE offering
explore methods to raise pupil attainment and to develop pupils' religious and theological literacy
